Sure, Deirdre

May 11, 2008

This was a very productive weekend, for the most part.
I did a ton of grading (finally caught up after the literary event at the college had set me back), took care of
my three rapidly growing tomatoes (yes, we have 3 now!), did a little note-taking and fleshing out of a character for my novel, and [...]

Honey Boy

March 30, 2008

Last weekend I made two new postcards that I then sent out to my postcard swap partners (via .post due. and swap-bot).
Here are the two cards that went out to Colorado and Seattle.
These are from my new Fruit Series. I get the pictures of fruit from those inserts that come in the [...]

Hot Lunch

March 9, 2008

Had a great book group yesterday, discussing The Road.
Everyone  brought some really good insight into the book, questions, comments, likes/dislikes.
It evoked memories of being in NYC, discussing books with our writer friends.
Nice to know we can find a little of that here in San Diego.
Also, was feeling creative the last couple of days and made [...]

Meaty Matters

February 20, 2008

Been away from the blogosphere for several days now, sorry.
Ted and I had a fabulous time in San Francisco– more on that (and pictures!) by the end of this week. But the recovery from our little vay-cay has been long.
In the meantime, in between time, here are a couple of pictures of a terrific [...]

January 30, 2008

I’m back teaching now– two classes that I absolutely love: Advanced Composition and Introduction to Creative Writing. Thus i’ve been a bit lax on posting the last few days, sorry! But i’ll get back into the swing of it by the end of the week.
Just some quick notes for now.
Joined Goodreads– so cool to see [...]

Looks Like We Made It*

January 3, 2008

*B. Manilow (special nod to Lola)
HAPPY NEW YEAR
I know, i’m a little late. We got back this morning at 12:30 a.m. from Cincinnati.
We had a nice time.
Ate too much (Ted’s mom is a fabulous cook). Not to mention she had the best gifts for us. My stocking was stuffed with books (JM Coetzee’s new [...]

Fecal Matter

December 16, 2007

Got another coupla postcards in the mail.
This one is from Daisy in jolly 0l’ England. I love the background paper and of course, the scantily-clad lady.

And then Lee sent me this one (though I don’t think he was my swap partner; I think he just sent it out of the goodness of his heart). I [...]

Winter Break has officially begun

December 15, 2007

My semester(s) is (are) done. what a confusing sentence, eh?
I mean i’m done with my two schools–finals graded, grades and attendance turned in. I don’t think i’ll be going back until January(yay!).
I’m so wanting to finish this book i’ve been reading, “The Perfect Man,” by Naeem Murr. It’s beautifully written, and I love that [...]

More Meat

November 4, 2007

Garsh, where does the time go?
I can’t believe I haven’t blogged all week (and I was doing so well!).
Anyway, to catch up we had a fun time at the Halloween party last Saturday– where Ted and I dressed up as a Scout Master and his Cub Scout.

Don’t we look cute?
Quick (but scary) story about getting [...]

Bothered, Bewildered

October 27, 2007

So, continuing with the “Bewitched” theme (it is almost Halloween, after all), I gave a reading last night at the San Diego Writer’s Ink/Ink Spot with several of my fellow Creative Writing Instructors from one of the colleges where I teach.
The story I read is called “Bothered, Bewildered” and was published last year in a [...]
