Last Hurrah of the Summer

I’m off to Monterey, CA for four days with Ted and his mom. She’s meeting us in San Jose (flying from Cincinnati) today and then we’re driving to Monterey.
While we’re there we’re going to drive to San Simeon and see Hearst Castle. I went to Hearst Castle when I was about ten– and an odd bird movie nut then– so i’m even more thrilled to be going as a bona fide movie nut adult.
We’re also going to Big Sur.
In Monterey we’ll see the Monterey Bay Aquarium . And we’re going to Cannery Row– John Steinbeck famously depicted this strip of sardine fisheries in his book of the same name– now it’s filled (to my glee) with antique stores (where I’m hoping to acquire some cool vintage postcards).
