Martinis and Cat Treats Make For a Wild Night

October 24, 2007

Forgot to post this picture– it’s from the other night when I made Tex-Mex and Pumpkin Muffins. Ted made us martinis, and I took a photo of mine because it looked so good (I like ‘em dirty). It wasn’t until later that I noticed the jar of cat treats from Pounce in the background.

Such is our life.

Lately i’ve been going through our shelves parsing out some of our books; i’m planning to either donate them somewhere or trade them at a used bookstore for credit (so I can get more books and fill up the shelves again!). I rarely get rid of books, but because in NYC I worked freelance for a publishing house (and still do) I would get free books all the time. Books that I really knew I would never read. I still took them anyway. So i’m giving those away. I’d like to make some room on a shelf to put my collage materials– the ephemera, magazines, glue, boards, papers, scissors, sprays, etc. (by the way, special thanks and shout out to Art-Junk Girl–the suggestion about the gel medium–it works SOOO much better).

Anyway, I was flipping through some of the books and in one, a gay poetry collection (this one is a book I actually bought in the mid-late eighties– my first gay poetry book I think), I found a ticket to Disneyland from 1988! I’m sure it’s mine. In fact, I vaguely remember using it as a book mark. Here it is:

In another book I found this antique/vintage Matchbook that I remember buying in the late 1990s, but I don’t remember why. Maybe it’s because it had these cool 1930s-ish cats on it. I used it as a bookmark, too.

I love finding things that I haven’t seen in years.

Ok, today i’m going to do some writing and make some more collages/postcards.

    Hey FA (Fellow Adjunct),
I’m glad to hear you’re doing ok during the reprieve from work. I’m glad you’re thriving on a creative level! Good writing and colllaging!
